Following the 3-2 defeat at home against Milton Keynes Dons, I asked the Vital Lincoln City members what three things they learned from the match.

Here’s what Chimpimp said:

1. Football really knows how to kick you in the teeth. After a difficult spell where the players lacked confidence and creativity, MA has managed to get the players creating chances and scoring goals in recent games. In a winning position with seconds to go at Cheltenham and 2-0 up to around the hour mark against MK, but only a point by to show. Yes, mistakes were made but when you are struggling they always seem to get punished.

2. Regan Poole is a pretty decent central defender. It shouldn’t really be a surprise. He’s been at Lincoln a year now and as a full-back, the occasions he’s been exposed by an opposition attacker are few and far between.
First and foremost he can defend. Big and strong and able to read the game well, it’s not surprising he looks at home in the middle.

3. Lincoln have played their last game of 2021. A year is a long time in football. It started with Lincoln flying high in L1, hit a trough within weeks only for them to regroup, for a playoff tilt at the Championship, to close the season.

Six months later things look different but with less than half the matches played nothing is yet decided and there are plenty of twists and turns to come.
