Lincoln City 2-3 Milton Keynes Dons: Match Stats & Views From The Forum

|

Views from PerthImp following the 3-2 defeat at home against Milton Keynes Dons in League One: “Speechless. Terrific effort but why are we so keen to implode ourselves and give games away. I can’t quite put my finger on it but we seem to have players this season who do not know how to play off the ball and get themselves into decent positions. We have players who don’t know how to attack the ball in the opposition penalty area and we have players who want to walk the ball into the goal. We have players who get caught in possession so often or simply give the ball away because they can’t release a simple pass. There are just so many silly, basic errors by players who should be above that. Really, really frustrating because you just know that’s two games in a row we should have won, but we’ve picked up one point when it should have been six.”

Rasenimp: “I obviously like Appleton but something is wrong if at 2-0 up we are trying to force the ball into Fiorini’s feet in his own half with players around him. He isn’t Tom Hopper.

If they got one back you knew we were screwed, we said it at half-time. The team doesn’t have the ‘minerals’ this season and isn’t good enough to get away with it in an attacking sense.”

APHLCFC: “They did their best to help us win and we still found a way to make a mess of it!

It was obvious after an hour the tide was turning and nobody on the pitch or more concerning, off it did anything about it. If Appleton uses the young side excuse today he’s having a laugh. He should’ve seen it coming and had us slowing down the game with little fouls and a bit of time-wasting to kill their momentum. Bridcutt is our most senior player and he lost his cool, a great example to the younger players.

The substitutions were baffling, Fiorini and Bishop were causing them problems, Maguire was blowing out of his arse. Sorensen did his usual and gave the ball away for their goal.

This one is well and truly in Appleton for me. There’s no way we should have lost that game, you could see the players didn’t know whether to keep attacking or play it safe and in the end they did neither and MA wasn’t able to influence them.”

berksimps: “Let’s put the game in perspective perspective. Our two goals came from an own goal and a penalty. We created some great chances yet many of our players have totally lost confidence in front of goal and cannot score from open play. And at the back there there is always the gift of a mistake on offer.

We may stay up, but only just because there are enough sides even poorer than us.”
