Lincoln City 2-2 Fleetwood Town: Views & Stats

Views from PerthImp following Saturday’s 2-2 draw at home against Fleetwood Town in League One: “That was shocking. A game totally devoid of any quality, largely down to the appallingly poor quality refereeing which completely disrupted the game and any flow. The players on both sides clearly didn’t know where the dividing line was and made some terrible challenges and the ref just tried not to give anything. Having said that, the Imps appeared to me to lose all shape, structure and discipline which handed the initiative to Fleetwood. In the end we were almost lucky to come away with a point. Another learning experience so we move on to Barnsley. I really hope we get two players in this week which will hopefully give us more balance and experience.”

JT_LCFC: “Abysmal home form continues, not improvement in that regard from last season given the sides we have played. Numerous injuries, can’t fill a bench – I sound massively negative and I apologise. I can’t muster any enthusiasm for this season what I have seen to date, and would take 20th now.

The crowds dropping are also a worry.”

German Imp: “We can talk about the ref, we can talk about injuries, but the 2nd half was dire. We played long ball which resulted in Fleetwood gaining possession and coming at us again, we invited the pressure. Whether that was instructions from the coaching staff at half time to play long but it didn’t work. First 20 minutes we were great but then disintegrated.

I do hope the recruitment is sorted at the moment it feels like pick-up sticks. Recruitment get players, here MK do something with these. Sometimes it feels we have two head coaches.”

Impish: “If we try and sit back for whatever the number of hours we were 2-0 up for its simply handing them the advantage. We aren’t good enough to see out games. Very little sign of this high press and also we looked out on our feet with numerous players looking crocked for the majority of that second half.

I know the ref was very poor and the linesman on the co-op side was never up with play so cannot comment on whether their first was offside or not. However, we did not help ourselves today when we should be able to see a game out comfortably, on balance of play if it wasn’t for Rushworth we would have lost.

We also still look vulnerable when any physical side plays against us. We must still be one of the smallest teams in this league.

It’s very frustrating and yet again injuries and lack of home form look a direct repeat of last season.

Blimey do we need some extra bodies in.”
