Views from PerthImp following the 2-2 draw at home against Accrington Stanley in the Quarter-Final of the EFL Trophy, which The Imps lost 3-1 on penalties: “Ignore the penalty shoot-out, but the whole match we lacked quality, control and confidence. In my opinion, only Sorensen, Hopper, Mandriou, and Sanders came out of that with any credit. There was just no flow and understanding between the players. We are too negative. Plus, I hate Accrington – they just stifle the game and use the dark arts and we are just too naive to cope with it – happens every game against that sort of opposition. Really hope we can get a couple of decent players in during the window because our confidence looks to be draining away game by game.”

More views from our Match Thread:
JT_LCFC: “OK we lost on penalties, but we look a really really poor outfit. I appreciate my opinion may not be popular, but I just have grave concerns how this could end with such inexperience at the helm and a threadbare weak-looking squad. I can’t see any improvements.”
PortMacImp: “We were just not good enough to go through. Accrington, a team out of form presently, arrive at Sincil Bank and make us look pedestrian. A tough watch that game. The only brightness from it was the glimpses of quality from Danny Mandroiu.”
imps_joe: “Conditions played their part, but it was a very poor game. Both teams lacked quality.
Difficult to say either team deserved to progress, but I honestly think Accrington were just slightly better and much much better at penalties. I told my dad that I didn’t know we had 5 penalty-takers, but it was worse than I thought!
Lincoln are very hard to watch at the moment. Minimal entertainment.
A couple of weeks ago I didn’t fear relegation, but we struggle so much against the poorer teams.
Colour me concerned.”
