Following the 1-1 draw at home against Plymouth Argyle in League One, I asked the Vital Lincoln City members what three things they learnt from the match.

Here’s what JAYIMP said:

Not sure if we have learnt anything that we didn’t know already but surely we had a little reminder about a few things.

1. We can be really pragmatic and efficient against teams that want to play football. Our approach/formation makes us hard to beat. Opponents trying to win and be on the front foot are also more likely to give us that bit of space and opportunity to catch them. That’s our game and we are good at it. The question is do we need/have a different plan for teams that will play to not get beaten to find a way to stop dropping points (or embarrassing ourselves in the FA cup ; ) ) and start winning these games?

2. Keeping Walsh and Jackson fit is so important. Great defenders. If the current fitness team will somehow find a way to do this (easier said than done) we are not going to lose many games.

3. We are still a bit short in options as a squad. There are a few injured players out (shock..) and with them back it will look a bit better. As it stands though in many games opponents make subs to change something and bring fresh legs into action, change the way they play, etc. and we can’t do it as there are simply no options on the bench. If we were chasing the last game we had only Draper and Boothe as offensive options. Not great. Hopefully Mandroiu, Garrick, Hopper, and Bishop won’t be out for too long.

Thank you to Graham Burrell and Lincoln City Football Club for the photograph!
