Lincoln City 1-1 Accrington Stanley: Views & Stats

Views from PerthImp following the 1-1 draw at home against Accrington Stanley in League One: “Cheating bar stewards. I know we were lacking quality (as usual) but I really hope Accrington get relegated and I never see them again. They are uber-professional. They run flat out for 95 minutes and never give you a chance to settle and play football, plus the gamesmanship was taken to another level. Absolutely awful. Their player should definitely have been sent off for a second yellow when we got the penalty. Just wish we had the skill and ability to take them on. I think half the problem is players are not willing to take on responsibility and take players on and try different things or draw fouls. Instead we concentrate on trying to keep possession and play the ball backward. As a result, against constantly pressing teams like Accrington, the pressure is on our own defenders and defensive midfielders and we end up lumping the ball forward. We really need to sort out the quality in the final third.”

libertine: “Full time. We won’t play a worse team in the league this season and we’ve barely had any decent chances. No chance of boosting our attendances when we are so boring to watch. No problem with the set-up against decent teams but to play like that against pure crap is embarrassing. Fed up of hearing that we’re unbeaten at home. Scared to attack.”

PortMacImp: “2 points dropped with a whimper. Tough for home fans to keep turning up to watch teams come to Lincoln and so easily stifle the game and our team seems to be unable to do little about it. The only consolation is we gained a point.”

Scotimp: “This will be a familiar tale until we find some midfielders who can do something besides turn back towards their own goal and pass the ball backwards. No creativity, no bite, no attacking instinct whatsoever. We must have one of the weakest midfields in the EFL.”

sedgleyimp: “A game we should have won. I base that on how the game unfolded not the alleged weak opposition. Any John Coleman side will always give you a game, but we should have been well ahead before that equaliser.

Next three games for us will be fascinating. As its City we could easily lose at Chippenham then beat Bristol City and Plymouth on the bounce.”
