Lincoln City 0-2 Gillingham: Match Stats & Views From The Forum

|

Views from tornado imp following the 2-0 defeat at home against Gillingham in League One: “Well that was poor at a time when we were meant to stand up and be counted. Who or what can we blame, not injuries or a team of youngsters, that was a strong team that played today. Not the weather or the pitch as things were perfect for our football style. Can’t blame a massive following in the Stacey West as some people seem to look for excuses. Can’t blame Eyoma, Sorensen, Fiorini Adelekun, or even Whittaker as these players were in the firing line a while ago. Confidence is a massive thing and we’re about at the point of no return and a hammering by Wednesday next week is about what we’re expecting. Appleton won’t or can’t change much now as the players we have can’t execute a style they’ve been bought to play without trying to change at this point of the season. He needs to stand up and be counted, drop those that aren’t up to the relegation battle ahead, and send out a team of battlers. Limited options I know but let’s not go down without a fight as we did on that last day against Aldershot. Some of those players that day didn’t seem to care and one or two in this team are looking like that.”

Rasenimp: “Going to give it a miss here now, but I assume the cycle of people being negative about the performance again (fairly) will eventually give way to it being about entitled fans, how we had two-thirds of the ball or something and something about how good last season was.

We are in bother, long and short of it I think. For a team who allegedly has a lot of games decided by luck, you’d think these games wouldn’t be so frustratingly predictable every week.”

WellingtonImp: “iFollow just replayed the goals. An utter shambles. I’m not sure replacing MA is going to get any more from this bunch of players. I said that we needed 8-9 players in, assuming that a couple would leave, during the January window. We got half that number in and I believed that those that arrived, with the return of Hopper, would see us through to the end of the season, a mid-table finish, and a rebuild. I’m no longer confident. We have critical problems in defence and particularly in midfield, and a new manager isn’t going to fix them now. Like I said after Bolton, I can not see where the next point will come from. But, always an Imp, I’ll be watching, and hoping, when we go again.”

JT_LCFC: “Devoid of ideas, the entertainment has been sucked out. We aren’t exciting, we aren’t youthful and enterprising. We are completely stale and have been all season.

Today was dreadful, Gillingham were absolutely garbage but knew they only needed one chance to beat us. We look lost, we look casual, we look rudderless…

When the crowd turn which they did en masse today there is never a pleasant outcome. I don’t know the correct answer, but it’s not good.”
