UNDER FIRE Lincoln City captain Scott Kerr has rallied to the defence of his team-mates following their abject display in Saturday’s 4-0 humiliating defeat to an under-strength Shrewsbury side.

Former Scarborough midfielder Kerr, who produced one of his worst-ever performances in a City shirt on the opening day of the season, claims the Imps ‘didn’t surrender’ against a mediocre Shrews outfit, a display that has led to a barrage of criticism from the Sincil Bank faithful.

‘Anyone could see that the lads were giving everything in a bid to nick something from the game,’ said Kerr, who also claimed directly after the match on Radio Lincolnshire that John Schofield’s side had bossed the first-half against their Shropshire visitors, ‘ripping their back four wide open’.
