|

A few hours ago The Imps revealed the signing of midfielder Joe Morrell on a season-long loan deal from Championship club Bristol City. The 22-year-old is a graduate of the Bristol City Academy who made four first-team appearances during the 2018/19 season.

The first came in the Sky Bet Championship when he helped Bristol City overcome Ipswich Town at Portman Road, followed by a run of games in The Emirates FA Cup at home against Huddersfield Town (1-0), Bolton Wanderers (2-1) and Wolverhampton Wanderers (0-1).

Morrell made a total of 40 appearances during the 2017/2018 season, 39 of which were for Cheltenham Town. His first appearance of that season came in Bristol City’s 5-0 win at home against Plymouth Argyle in the EFL Cup, before being loaned out to The Robins.

He has also made a number of appearances for Wales under 17s, under 19s and under 21s.

Speaking to the Official Site, Joe Morrell said: “I am really excited to be here, it’s a club with a lot of upwards momentum.

“It’s brilliant to get it sorted so early into the pre-season stages, so I can get to know the surroundings and the team, and they can get to know me.

It’s a club with a lot of great feeling about it. As soon as I heard about the interest, it was a move I was very interested in and I’m pleased to be here.”
