JM: “The whole focus has just been on Saturday.”

Jamie McCombe made it clear it is business as usual ahead of the Bristol Rovers game, following the departure of Danny and Nicky Cowley to Huddersfield Town.

Departure of the Cowleys: JM had been well aware of the press links to Huddersfield and Sheffield Wednesday and that was natural due to the success Danny and Nicky had brought to the club. To take the club from ‘The Conference’ to L1 whilst building the infrastructure as they have, demonstrates an excellent job done for the city and community. No one could hold the move against them with the opportunity to better their career. Danny and Nicky were clearly emotional when they left and it had been a big decision not taken lightly. On a personal note, DC/NC had been fantastic for him, giving JM his first taste in coaching whilst first hand he had been able to witness the high standards they set, their ethos and how they had created the club environment. That had enabled him to pick up lots of things resultingly.

Wycombe Match: They are a high energy direct side so conceding early allowed them to dictate making it very difficult to respond. Some people may link the performance to another agenda but in the mind of JM it was just a freak result – it’s not often that goals direct from corners are seen for example.

Bristol Rovers Preparation: The other coaches (like Tom Shaw etc.) and the senior players have stepped up to fill the gap in numbers. Aside from that, it has been a normal week. JM has been with the Cowleys since day one being privy to but also part of the triad that has developed the process. Therefore he believes in it so why fix it if it isn’t broken. The players have maintained their exemplary professional standards. If that carries over to the game allied with the unity and alignment that exists at the club it is business as usual. The infrastructure is strong so nothing has to change. JM called for the fans ‘to do what they do’ and continue as normal.

Who Are The League One Managers? No.5: Graham Coughlan (Bristol Rovers)

Miscellaneous: JM had nothing to say about whether he wanted the manager’s job permanently likewise whether he would also be going to Huddersfield. His only interest had been in preparing the players for Saturday with the sole focus on Bristol Rovers – there has been so much to do as ‘manager’.

The squad is in a healthy state with a few players nearing returns to fitness.
