Following Saturday’s 0-0 draw at home against Gillingham in League One, we asked our members what three things they learned from the match.

Here’s what sedgleyimp said:

1. You can see that the way MA wants to play are being formed but it’s not quite there yet. Occasionally today there were some very smart interchanging of passes between the players which created that little bit of space for team-mates. You can see that he wants attacking players to be fluid in their positioning with players interchanging roles throughout the game. It’s still very much a work in progress but when it comes off it will look great and the wins will come.

2. We are a much more solid team with Michael Bostwick in the back four. It is perhaps a slight irony that whilst we are trying to evolve into this smooth passing machine the player who stood out today was Bossie for his all-action display with an attitude of keeping it simple and make sure that the opposition strikers know they’ve been in a game.

3. Steve Evans is still a bit of a clown but as an opposition manager a hugely entertaining one to watch. His constant histrionics throughout the match and his attempts to rile MA at the end were comedy genius. Like him or loathe him you can’t dispute he adds to the match with his antics.

And here’s what syimp said:

1. The MA method is slowly evolving and, slowly but surely, the players are tuning in to it. Some still look a bit lost: I’m not naming names, but I think there are a few players in the starting line-up who won’t make the cut at season’s end.

2. It’s no secret that we look more secure defensively with Bossie in the team. I still wince when he fully commits to a challenge though but thankfully, his timing is much better than I give him credit for. Looks more at home with playing it out from the back too. The addition of Bridcutt has also made the tactic look less hazardous.

3. Despite the misgivings amongst a few of the faithful, this squad of players is far too good to go down.

We are a team in transition and the green shoots of recovery are already showing through with some flowing moves.

In MA, I trusted from the outset and I see no reason to change my mind.

Thank you to Graham Burrell and Lincoln City Football Club for the photograph!
