It is Macclesfield who face the Imps in a tough encounter at Moss Rose tonight and hopefully three more points will be on the board for City who are within sight of the finishing line for League 2 survival.

The Silkmen go into this clash on the back of a surprise away victory at Northampton, a team they have failed to beat since 1999. The Imp’s own imperious win over play off chasing Southend will set this match up nicely.

Never an easy place to go, especially on a Tuesday night Moss Rose is the sort of place where the players will have to battle. No one needs reminding of an encounter a few seasons ago which got a little bit out of hand.

Macclesfield have won 4 out of their last six games and are well up in the form table so it will not be an easy three points for City. The one to watch for Makk will be the former non-league striker Tyrone Barnett. The player was tracked by the late Keith Alexander when the player was at Hednesford.

City meanwhile go into the match with on loan Celtic striker now appearing to be having a good run in the side with his performances improving to boot. Small cameo appearances have not allowed the Nottingham born striker to show his full potential but on Saturday he got a full 90 minutes and is likely to start tonight.

With Ashley Grimes hoping to get through the 20+ goals tally for the season there is certainly some attacking options for Steve Tilson should he need them.

With Delroy Facey once again likely to be providing the crosses from the left wing the two strikers who started on Saturday in Tilly’s preferred formation of 4-4-2 will be looking to take their chances.
