“It was what I expected although in fairness there was no lack of effort.”

Views from PWould following Saturday’s 1-0 defeat away at Newport County in Sky Bet League Two: “It was what I expected although in fairness there was no lack of effort. In very trying conditions we played some good football but lacked a cutting edge up front. I thought Newport were disappointing and the result flattered them. We were not on the beach as such but understandably lacked our usual intensity.”

More views from the Match Thread:

mikeosullivan: “I’m sure Danny is already disappointed at the way we are finishing the season, especially the last three games.

We lack a little bit of creativity in midfield – and we especially lack a forward to attack the ball and finish off the dozens of crosses we get into the box every game.

Its no good having excellent full backs and wide players when we have a centre forward who prefers to do his best work outside the box. That has to be addressed if we are to thrive next season.”

simes69: “I have to say that when I looked at our last 4 fixtures a couple of weeks ago I felt a little daunted. All those sides have a lot to play for. I was left wondering if we would be able to win any of them… I was relieved that we were 99.9% promoted as none of them are fixtures you would want to HAVE to win. Colchester are beatable, but we will have to be up for it.”

sedgleyimp: Back home in the West Mids after a bit of a wet and windy day in South Wales. Will take a bit of time to read the thread but my initial thought is that our season basically finished at MK three weeks ago. The players put so much effort into obtaining that key result that since it has not quite clicked. I completely understand it though. Today players seemed to not quite have that quick reaction/thinking that was evident earlier in the season but after achieving what they had this season it’s hardly surprising that the foot is slightly off the pedal with nothing left to play for so I’m fine with it.”
