“It was a real team performance.”

Views from berksimps following Saturday’s 2-0 win at home against Carlisle United in the Second Round of The Emirates FA Cup: “Thought Greeny ran them ragged at the back when he was on the pitch and put in a great shift. Rhead’s early goal took the pressure off and for the majority of the first half hour, we dominated. It was a real team performance, Vickers made some saves but over the 90 minutes, Andrade was the standout. Akinde, at last, showed what we know he is capable of, certainly against a tiring defence, but the goal will greatly improve his confidence. It was good to see him back in the zone.”

More views from the Match Thread:

NottyImp: “Tippy-tappy. Outy-go-ey.

To be fair, Carlisle played some good stuff and looked threatening at times. But we probably created twice as many chances as they did and scored 2. That made us the better team by a decent margin.

Delighted for Rhead and Akinde – both classic goals made by excellent wing-play from Andrade.

Not many FA cup 3rd rounds over the years for us, so delighted by this cup-run already.”

Sincilbanks: “I thought we battered them for 25 minutes, Rheady ran the game in that period. Once they got into it 1st half we looked very tentative at times defending. 2nd half they again came out the blocks and took the game to us. Josh earned his keep in those two periods and was outstanding. I felt they were running out of gas though in the last 20 and had more or less shot their bolt and Akinde and Mccarton coming on was exactly the right move giving us fresh legs to use the space and carry the ball

Delighted for Akinde, terrific strikers finish. Andrade excellent and so was Eardley who had the young looking winger in his pocket for the whole game.”

JT_LCFC: “Agree I thought we could and should have killed the game off after 10 minutes.

Thought Vickers made some decent stops but all fairly routine. There were certainly more rewarding recipients for MOM. I felt we attacked on the whole with real purposes today and had the vast amount of opportunities.

Great to reach the 3rd round again and the more money we can make from the cups again the club can continue to grow.”
