In Dreams

Dreams are what it’s all about! From Sunderland in the ‘Greedisgood league’ to Scarborough Athletic, setting out to climb the football ladder once again in the Northern Counties East league. We, all of us, football fans young and old, aspire to see OUR club being successful.

But, it’s a relative term, Kean’s Macca have the immediate request for a longer stay in the top flight than usual, having a definite air of yoyoitis about them, while Scarborough just wish to re-establish themselves in the football world full stop.

However, Sunderland dream of becoming established as one of the top clubs, whilst the Pirates aim to climb back to the Football League, over time. At Lincoln, retaking the stability of the last five seasons (of play offs?) is our foremost desire, given the fear of relegation engendered in the first half of this season, but what of the future and OUR dreams?

The Clubs the Hub and project 2010, continue to move onward and upward, with many elements already in place and established.

The Club’s youth policy is producing untold riches, never imagined ten years ago and continues to turn out talent by the handful, probably the biggest success so far. Hobbs, Loach, Hone, Frectanian, LJL, Clark etc and others waiting to take their chance, all add up to, a rich vein of talented youngsters, destined for greater things. Some, hopefully, will drag us kicking and screaming into bigger and better times.

The rebuilding of parts of Sin Siro, have appeared on the horizon and been published recently, a plan I think, essential to move us into a new era, the ‘joke’, St. Andrews stand needs to go, as does the other, ‘joke’, family stand, (the Adams family obviously!) and, hopefully, some joined up thinking will join up other parts of the stadium.

With all this in place, the club can move upwards apace if it desires to. I believe the present board has shown there intent in appointing a manager who knows what fans want and is an adept at P.R. His insistence that only the best will do but with a smile on our faces, is a breath of fresh air and something the club needed after years of dour football and personalities.

So we can dream of the Championship and possibly more, we can dream that our club is on the brink of new, successful era and this time, just maybe, we don’t need to steel ourselves to be disappointed. U.T.I.
