The Imps will be showing their 3-2 win at home against Burton Albion from March 2020 on their YouTube channel at 15:00 tomorrow. Below you will find the “3 Things” article I published before the match and I will be publishing the Q&A we did with one of their supporters tomorrow morning.

Here’s what sedgleyimp said:

1. Rest and recuperation. Managers often complain about how many games they have to play in the course of a season. With the Bury debacle, we have now a clear two weeks off at a time of the season that players are starting to feel the wear and tear from a long hard season. Appreciating that Burton don’t have any midweek fixtures whilst we aren’t playing they do have a tough game against Peterborough this Saturday to negotiate. These two weeks can be invaluable to us for resting players a little plus working on things in training in a little more detail. Our last Bury break also ended with the reverse fixture where we played well and won. Use the time off well.

2. Appreciate the guidance of experience. We have acquired a decent crop of young players but to expect them to be the finished article just isn’t fair on them yet. The likes of Eardley/Bostwick/Bridcutt/Bolger are crucial in their development and their individual performances against Gillingham greatly aided that useful point being gained. The young players need to look at how they go about their game but also those older players need to know that their guidance is vital to how the youngsters will play.

3. Set-piece delivery. We are not the tallest of teams bar a couple of individuals but some of our set-piece delivery of late hasn’t been at it’s best. Grant has talent with this as evidenced in the Peterborough home game but often it is frustrating to see the corners and free-kicks not getting past the first defender. This used to be a potent weapon in our armoury and we need to achieve more successes from such openings. Training ground work required.
