The Imps have just streamed the full 2-1 win at home against Peterborough United from January 2020 on their YouTube Channel. If you didn’t watch it, you can do so HERE. Following this match, we asked our members what three things they learned from the victory.

Here are the 3 things hulloutpost learned from this match:

1. Jorge Grant is clearly earmarked by Michael Appleton as a central midfielder in the making. His after match comments confirmed that he sees Grant as having the technical skills and flair to play there but still has much to learn, probably in the positional and work rate stakes. That said, even though brought about from being behind, the change at half time was both a positive move and vote of confidence in Grant.

2. Money, big signings and wages a team do not make. Peterborough finished the game a ragged and dispirited bunch of individuals. The Imps grew into the game showing mettle, confidence, teamwork, belief and flair the more the game progressed. It appears that the players are really responding to the coaching input and tactical nous from a calm and measured manager who knows what he wants and how to go about it. The Imps at LNER Stadium are a force to be reckoned with and if a few points can be added on the road we are in for a comfortable and enjoyable second half of the season; conditional possibly upon what happens in point 3.

3. Morrell and Walker really need to be kept hold of until the summer. They are key components of the side and will not be easily replaced. It will be a more interesting than usual January window regarding the potential to lose some significant players whilst MA is making positive noises about incoming signings. If we can come out the right side of that balance then there is no reason why the momentum/confidence cannot continue to build.
