Taking 3 points off Stockport is a massive boost to the Imps as Steve Tilson plots the great escape of 2011 and Sunderland keeper Trevor Carson plays his part.

The 22 year old keeper made some crucial saves early on and the old cliche comes out in that he couldn’t do much about the goals. Certainly the last Stockport goal took a massive deflection of City centre back Adam Watts. The other two were certainly not the fault of the keeper and one was due to sloppy defending when the ball should really have been hacked clear.

The highly rated young goalkeeper was previously on loan at Chesterfield but such is his standing he has also played
for Northern Ireland’s U-21 team 11 times and once for Northern Ireland B

With Craig Gordon the first choice keeper at Sunderland Carson will have to bide his time at the Stadium of Light and his month long loan should cover for Joe Anyons current abscence due to injury.

Let’s have a clean sheet on Tuesday Trevor, please!
