Impquest: Plan B or Not Plan B?

The introduction of Holmes has sured things a bit, given Amoo and Hughes new defensive responsibilities resulting in ineffective performances. They have neither the engine nor inclination to do so. Hoddle or Beckham type players have an offensive role. They are luxury players, brilliant on their day, leaving you one man down when you are up against it. Real Madrid have not achieved silverware since Beckham arrived, Hoddle`s ability was not matched by consistency, as Spurs became a cup side. In playing two luxury midfielders have in effect had 8 V 10 outfield players every time a side attacks us. Add our lack of height at set peices and there are our problems. Games are won and lost in midfield yet in playing 4 we are playing 2.

Green will not make a left full back as long as Schoey has a hole in his backside. Against a wide man, despite his pace and tackling prowess, he is like King Canute sitting on the seashore attempting to stop the waves. He needs to go into midfield along with Kerr, with Frecktanian in the middle. The Creativity and attacking responsibility should be first in Frecks brief, although he is available, as central midfielder to mop up or take the short pass as we swamp the centre.

Where`s the width? Warlow as left wing back (Mayo as another option), and upon Browns return, Beevers at right wing back. Both have skill, pace and determination in abundance. Holmes could do Beevers job until Browns return, he could also do a central defensive role should green falter. Though this I doubt given Greens natural stamina at such a young age. Must be all the post match pizza! In the middle of defence for all his sins we have Field Marshall Morgan in the middle, sweeping for Moses, Beevers, Brown or mayo.

Jamie and Stallard up front with the pace of Dani and Mendez if need be would be an awesome prospect on the wide expanses of Wembley and beyond. It fits with our personnel, our style and the Imps penchant for passing. Go on lads we`ve started so we should finish. And old Magnus is a clever bloke!
