Following Tuesday night’s 2-1 defeat at home against Mansfield Town in the Checkatrade Trophy, we asked our members what three things they learned.

Here’s what NottyImp said:

1. The squad depth isn’t quite there yet – or, at least, the backup players are not fully Cowley-fit and on Cowley-method quite yet. Not surprising at all given that some were signed very late in the window and others are bound to lack fitness/match sharpness.

2. You can kick the hell out of an opposing team with relative impunity in the Checkatrade as the cards don’t count in the League. The Stags realised this and proceeded to rack up an impressive number of yellows by the end of the game. Some of their challenges were quite horrible and downright dangerous.

3. If we ever had any doubt about priorities this season, they have been completely dispelled. The League, the League, the League. I get that completely, but it cannot help but slightly de-value the competition we went for full-bore and actually won last season. Many fans may decide that Lincoln Reserves versus Wolves Babies is probably not for them.
