His new contract runs until the end of the 2025/26 campaign, with a club option for a further 12 months.

Speaking to the official site, Michael Skubala said: “Tendayi is a an exemplary professional, massively impacting the group with his leadership on and off the pitch since he joined us last summer.

“Tendayi has performed to a high level in his favoured position and also helped the team by filling in at centre back when required. He trains every day, is available every game, sets standards in everything he does and is a brilliant influence on our young players. We are delighted to have formalised his contract with us for the next 18 months so that all parties have certainty for next season.”

Reaction on the forum:

Rasenimp: “It’s a deal until the end of 2025/26, with an option to extend for a year (he was previously on a deal to the end of this season, also with an option for a year).

I think it’s hard to argue he wouldn’t contribute over at least one more season – been very good, so good news (even if a little out of sorts lately IMO compared to an excellent/consistent start)!”

gijsbert_bos: “Good to tie him down for a bit longer – will be 35 when the deal ends, but he is fit as a fiddle and has been our most consistent player this year by some margin, so it makes sense. He could arguably play at the level above as well, if we make it there in the next couple of years.”

Luke Imp: “Yep, sensible move and a club option safeguards us as well.

Probably Player of the Season so far.”
