The last time The Imps hosted tonight’s opponents Plymouth Argyle was on Saturday 9th November 2013 in The FA Cup, in front of a crowd of 2,924. Scott Duncan was the referee that afternoon. The Imps, who were in the Conference at the time, held the visitors, who were in League Two, to a 0-0 draw. Plymouth won the replay 5-0 11 days later in front of a crowd of 3,324 at Home Park.

Ahead of tonight’s match, we have done a Q&A with a couple of Plymouth Argyle supporters, so thank you to Tony Cannan (Vice-Chair, Argyle Fans’ Trust) and Tom Wood for answering our questions! The answers have been published on two pages. To get to the second set of answers, press “Click here for the next set of answers!” at the bottom right of the page, or click HERE.

First up, the answers provided by Tony:

How long have you supported Plymouth Argyle?

I’m 44 now, since I was 12 so 32 years.

Where did you finish last season?

3rd place, but I’m confident we’d have been top had the season finished properly as Argyle were on fire.

What do you think of your Manager?

Ryan Lowe has been a breath of fresh air and a totally different and more positive prospect than the last two. He’s excellent. My only worry is, I know he’s destined for better things one day so we just have to enjoy him while he’s with us.

Who Are The League One Managers? No.17: Ryan Lowe (Plymouth Argyle)

What are your hopes and expectations for the 2020/21 season?

Automatic promotion would be nice but I feel sure the top six is a reasonable target with the team we have.

One(s) to watch?

Definitely Danny Mayor and George Cooper.

Which teams you think will finish in the top six in League One?

In no particular order and based on their squads, us, Lincoln, Hull, Doncaster, Ipswich and Sunderland.

Which teams do you think will finish in the bottom four in League One?

Wigan, MK Dons, Burton Albion and Oxford Utd.

What are your thoughts on Lincoln City?

The ones no one counted on to be up there but they’ve surprised everyone over the last few years and have a strong squad.

What do you think the score will be?

A score draw. We concede pretty easily, but we’re good at comebacks, and scoring, so I’m going with 2-2.

Random fact about your Club?

It the most southerly, and westerly in the whole top five divisions.

If you could steal one Lincoln City player for your own team, who would it be and why?

Lewis Montsma….a defender who scores a ton of goals? Yes, please!

What are your proudest and most embarrassing moments as a Plymouth Argyle Supporter?

Proudest – seeing Argyle’s only win at Wembley. The play-off final of 1996. Beating Darlington 1-0.

Most embarrassing – completely capitulation at Accrington Stanley two years ago, losing 5-1 which essentially relegated us….the manager didn’t even have the courtesy to give a post-match response. He was sacked two days later.

Who would you say is your most underrated player?

Danny Mayor. Doesn’t get enough credit as his goal tally isn’t high, but what he does in the middle of the park, and his assists, are outstanding.

Do you have a Supporters Trust and what role do they play at the Club?

Yes, it’s the Argyle Fans’ Trust and I am a former chairperson, currently the vice-chair. We play a supportive role in many ways for both the fans and the Club. We have an excellent relationship with the current PAFC board. We even did shirt deliveries during the summer to save people postage money.

Which was your favourite match involving Plymouth Argyle?

Too many to mention, but I always like a match against Portsmouth, particularly the play-off semi a few years back when we scored an injury-time winner…what a celebration that was!

Which was your least favourite match involving Plymouth Argyle?

Away to Grimsby on the last of the season four years ago. We’d already been promoted, but a draw meant Portsmouth took the title on the last day, having never been top of league even once all season. A long drive home and it felt like a defeat.

Do you have a Former Players Association at Plymouth Argyle?

Yes, we do.

What is the best thing about Plymouth?

The location. Plymouth Hoe is my most favourite place in the whole world. Nowhere has views like it.
