Following last night’s 1-1 draw away at Hull City in the Quarter-Final of the EFL Trophy, which The Imps won 4-3 on penalties, I asked the Vital Lincoln City members what three things they learned from the match.

Here’s what tinnionsrightfoot said:

1. We’re genuine contenders. We’ve now played the last 270 minutes against Pompey, Doncaster and Hull, and we’ve bossed about 200 of them. If it all goes pear-shaped now, we’ll get to the end of the season and look back at it as so much better than expected; but actually, it’s gotten to the stage where we’ll be disappointed if we don’t get promoted, or at least win a cup. That’s unbelievable, Jeff.

2. It’s hard to play fast attacking passing football on a cabbage patch and there’ll be some tired legs today in both camps. The commentators kept going on about how young and inexperienced we are, but I thought we were the fitter team. We need to work on recovery before Friday, but the value of resting a couple and the new players means we have 6 or 7 we could potentially bring in.

3. I thought that Bridcutt’s value to us became more apparant last night when he wasn’t playing. There seemed to be a bit of a hole where he normally is, and he’d have got a tackle in to stop them scoring. The last two goals we’ve conceded have come from the same place around the D.
