Lincoln City defender Callum Howe has joined National League side Eastleigh on a four-month loan deal.

The highly-rated 23-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at Sincil Bank since the arrival of on-loan Reading defender Rob Dickie, but has featured on the bench for City in their first three games of the season.

With skipper Luke Waterfall returning from injury, though, Howe’s chances of action have rescinded further and with Imps boss Danny Cowley stressing the need for Howe to be playing games, he has allowed him to join the Hampshire club until January.

Cowley told redimps.com: ‘For Callum’s development, it’s crucial that he’s exposed to regular first-team football. The only way a young player will improve is by having time on the pitch.’

Howe, who takes the No.27 shirt, goes straight into the Spitfires squad against Woking tonight and could make an immediate debut, alongside another former Imp Andrew Boyce.
