Ahead of tomorrow’s League One match versus Barnsley at Sincil Bank, we have done a Q&A with one of their supporters. Thank you to Ryan for answering the questions! Tomorrow’s referee is Martin Coy and the kick-off is at 15:00.

How long have you supported Barnsley?

I have been a Barnsley Fan since 2008! Luckily got to see the amazing FA Cup run we went on!

What are your hopes and expectations for the 2024/25 season?

I think we will push for play-offs, a lot of people have said how losing Cole, Kane and Cadden would hinder us massively but I feel like we’ve recruited well all we’re missing now is a striker!

What are your views on your manager?

At first, when I saw the appointment of Darrell Clarke I was a bit shocked as he’d just been relegated with Cheltenham. But he’s been a breath of fresh air and is what this club has needed since Michael Duff left! He speaks so well and you can tell the players are ready to put 110% into every match no matter the occasion!

What are your views on your summer transfer business so far?

The summer transfer business has been a bit of a weird one this year as we seem to have gone a bit rogue compared to our usual signings. The arrivals of Conor Hourihane and Marc Roberts have been key, bringing in the much-needed experience we’ve needed for a long time. The only thing that I’d say has let our business down is the fact we haven’t signed any strikers and I struggle to see where our goals will come from. The loan signings of Matty Craig and Gabriel Slonina look to have been an amazing bit of business from the club and I’m excited to see how they perform this year!

Which of your new signings are you most excited about?

That’s a bit of a tough question, Gabriel Slonina has to be up there! His debut at Wigan on Tuesday night showed how much potential he has and I still can’t believe he’s dropped down to League One as he was playing in the Belgium Premiership last year with Eupen!

Random fact about your Club?

Barnsley still to this day hold the record for fielding the Youngest Ever player to appear in the football league: Ruben Noble Lazarus made his Barnsley debut aged only 15 years and 45 days old!

Which were your favourite and least favourite matches involving Barnsley?

My favourite has got to be the Wembley double back in 2016 to win the cup and then go on and win the Play-offs!

My least favourite has got to be the play-off game in 2023 when we lost 1-0 to Sheffield Wednesday at Wembley in the last seconds. A heartbreaking way to lose!

Which sides do you think will finish in the top six and the bottom four?

My top six: Bolton, Huddersfield, Birmingham, Charlton, Barnsley and Rotherham.

My bottom four: Stevenage, Shrewsbury, Crawley and Wycombe.

What are your thoughts on Lincoln City?

Lincoln have a cracking squad this year, however, I do think losing Jensen and Sorensen will be big losses. You have recruited well though and being able to keep hold of Montsma will be key! I do like Ethan Erahon too, we had him in the academy at Barnsley a few years back and he’s one player I wish we’d have bought!

If you could steal one Lincoln City player for your team, who would it be and why?

Ethan Erahon. As I said before he was in our academy a few years back and I liked the look of him then. We didn’t take up the option to buy him and I think that’s one that got away! The way he can control the game and win the ball back all over the pitch is brilliant. He’s been a key player for you the last few times we’ve played each other and that’s why he’d be the one I’d steal from Lincoln City!

What is your prediction for this match?

I think it will definitely be a tough game, both teams will be looking to secure the 3 points but I do think we’ll edge it! We’ll be looking to bounce back after the loss against Mansfield on the opening day. I think I’m going to go for a 2-1 Barnsley win!
