“He is unbelievably powerful, totally committed, and has a great finish.”

The Vital Lincoln City members’ voted for whom they believe was The Imps Man oF The Match in their 2-0 win at home against Oldham Athletic in Sky Bet League Two.

Views from berksimps: “Some great displays from the midfield once they had used up 15 minutes to organise themselves. They found room, created room, played triangles, passed and sprinted: all glorious stuff. Pett the playmaker, O’Hara getting further forward, great running, control and crossing from Andrade and Anderson. And also a tremendous second half, and goal, from Rowe.

But by a whisker Toffolo gets it. It’s not often your left back gets all over the pitch let alone scores such a well-crafted goal from the right-hand side, having sprinted into their box, ending close to the six-yard line. He is unbelievably powerful, totally committed, and has a great finish. On top of that, he is not a bad left back. Harry Toffolo, we salute you.”

Here’s how the poll finished:

Gilks: 1 vote – 1.8%
O’Hara: 4 votes – 7.3%
Pett: 9 votes – 16.4%
Rhead: 0 votes – 0.0%
Andrade: 2 votes – 3.6%
Toffolo: 37 votes – 67.3%
Bostwick: 0 votes – 0.0%
Eardley: 0 votes – 0.0%
Bolger: 0 votes – 0.0%
Anderson: 0 votes – 0.0%
Akinde: 0 votes – 0.0%
Rowe: 2 votes – 3.6%

More Comments:

StrangelyBrown: “Toffolo was exceptional down the left but, particularly 2nd half, Anderson and Eardley’s overlapping play were beyond Oldham to deal with (unsurprising the 2nd goal came from the right side). Adding Rowe into the equation simply made us even more dynamic.

Although against 10 men second half, I thought we were really strong in terms of off the ball movement, running the channels, creating space and positive intent- my only criticism (of a team who has scored in the last 26 games!) is the final execution and a couple more goals.

Great night, very good performance but one which, for me, Toffolo nicked overall (he had a good defensive game as well)”

Stevie_imp: “It’s now all about results not artistic skills and performance. This is the business end where winning is absolutely everything. I know it’s a team game and on that point, there were several players that had a decent game. However, Toffolo scored a very good goal and as left back was instrumental in defence.”

syimp: “Pett. Magnificent throughout in both defensive and attacking mode. Toff was excellent going forward, but basically had the freedom of the Sincil Bank pitch. In accordance with the Oldham Times, I too thought Akinde was worth more than the average marks he’s been given on the other thread. Apart from the howler, his distribution and hold-up play was first class; he provided the aerial cross of the game for Bolger, in the first half, when he too really should have done better.”
