The last time The Imps played today’s opponents Charlton Athletic (currently managed by Lee Bowyer) in a League match was on 11th February 1961 in Division Two at The Valley. The hosts won 3-0 that day.

I was born in November 1992, so I haven’t seen The Imps play at The Valley, but I have been there and it was an enjoyable experience. I attended their match against Truro City in the First Round of The FA Cup on Sunday 5th November 2017, the day after watching The Imps get knocked out at Wimbledon thanks to a Lyle Taylor goal. Charlton won 3-1 that day and Truro certainly gave them a great game, which is what The FA Cup is all about. I opted to go in the away pub ahead of the match and had a great chat with some of the Truro supporters.

Anyway, ahead of today’s match, two Charlton Athletic supporters, Andy and Max, have answered a few questions for us!

The answers have been published on two pages. To get to the second set of answers, press “Click here for the second set of answers!” at the bottom right of the page, or just click HERE for page two!

Random fact about your Club?

They’re nicknamed the Addicks, which is rumoured to come from a fishmonger bringing a haddock on a stick to the early matches!

If you could steal one Lincoln City player for your own team, who would it be and why?

I’d say we need a centre half or 2, and go with Lewis Montsma.

What are your proudest and most embarrassing moments as a Charlton Athletic Supporter?

Two proud moments. 1st 1998 play-off final vs Sunderland and 2nd 2019 play-off vs Sunderland too.

Most embarrassing getting beaten by Brighton in 1983 7-0.

Who would you say is your most underrated player?

Darren Pratley.

Do you have a Supporters Trust and what role do they play at the Club?

Yes, they are highly supportive of the team and with our new owner in place hopefully, all CAFC fans are on the same page.

Either of the play-off finals.

Which was your least favourite match involving Charlton Athletic?

Any versus Millwall…

Do you have a Former Players Association at Charlton Athletic?

Yes.

What is the best thing about Charlton?

Locality to Central London.

Remember him well. Thoroughly committed no-nonsense centre half.

How familiar are you with League One and do you think your style of play will prove successful in it?

I am realistic in my expectation and think that we will be OK.

  • Quentin Tring says:

Proper Gent now. He was a proper little toe rag at school.
My mate used to teach him PE at Langdon park in the east end. Best footballer he ever saw. Won the London championships With him dominating affairs. Always had to ask special permission from the other staff to select him as he was in so much trouble. They thought he should be punished for………..you’ll have to ask him🤣
