Former Lincoln City youngster Elliott Green has joined Grantham Town as the Gingerbreads seek reinforcements to prevent their relegation from the Evo-Stik Northern Premier Division.

Part of the Imps youth side that won the Midland Youth Cup, the teenage defender was handed a contract by City last summer, but never featured and spent time on loan at Eastwood Town and Sheffield FC before being released by manager David Holdsworth late last month.

He has now penned a deal with Grantham and joint manager Gary Sucharewycz was delighted to get him on board. He said: ‘We were kept in the loop about Elliott by Lincoln City and had received good reports from his loan periods. He impressed us at training this week.’

Green could be joined at the Meres by former Lincoln teammate Jake Turner. The young goalkeeper enjoyed a loan spell at the Gingerbreads earlier in the season and played half a game for them in a midweek friendly against Holwell Sports.
