Ahead of tomorrow nights match at home against Plymouth Argyle (managed by Ryan Lowe) in League One, I asked the Vital Lincoln City members what three things they think The Imps need to do to pick up all three points.

1. By common consent we are playing pretty well at the moment, so we are already doing a fair bit right. So number one, keep doing what we are doing. Being able to produce consistent performances is usually associated with experienced players, so for the young players in a squad, this is not a given.

2. Make the most of our bench. We have players who won’t necessarily start who can make a real impact when they come on. Get this right and it could give us crucial wins as the season progresses.

3. Be lucky with the referee’s decisions. Like it or not the guardians of the game have now made the referee the most likely man to decide the outcome of any remotely competitive game.

Soft penalties and red cards are an everyday occurrence and you wouldn’t bet against a referees decision being important on Tuesday.
