We have already seen several matches in the Championship, League One and League Two move because they have been selected for live coverage on Sky Sports Football/Sky Sports+. From my point of view, the Sky deal is a disaster.
I am a supporter who watches all home matches and travels to most games away bar the odd long-distance Tuesday night match. The messing about with kick-off times will have a serious effect on my ability to attend matches in person particularly away.

While we haven’t been affected too much as of yet. The 5.30pm kick-off on opening day is a pain and has already cost me money and hassle to arrange so I can attend in person and support my team. The Wigan game is just another inconvenience but if we do well and as the season progresses this disruption will get worse.
I don’t subscribe to Sky and this deal makes me even less inclined to give them any of my money.
The stupid thing is the clubs say they need it but what will it actually achieve? I appreciate that owners/investors will see this as a way of having to pony up less of their own hard-earned money to compete and I completely understand that. However, in the medium to longer term, it will see attendance probably drop not least because there will be fewer away fans as the hassle of constantly rearranging your life takes its toll. Then where will the money go? Well, all clubs will be getting this money so what will they do with it? Pay off debts and improve facilities? No, it will go into players’ pockets so wages will go up significantly.
So in a nutshell the fans who attend in person will get p-ssed about, attendances will drop, the atmosphere will suffer, the players will get richer and football will become increasingly an armchair-viewing sport. Great!!
Oh, and owners/investors will still have to pony up money if they want to compete because all clubs will just play an ever more expensive version of Top Trumps with all the TV money.
