It has just been announced that former Leeds United coach Michael Skubala has signed a new contract with The Imps, which will run until the end of the 2027/28 season.
I was walking out of the building at work when the press release came through, and I’m not going to lie, I nearly danced around the car park, but then I realised I had to ensure the article was set to publish for 18:00, so I calmed myself down and cracked on with it!
You can discuss this news on the forum HERE!
Michael Skubala said: “I’m really pleased to have signed this extension at a really well-run club with everything set up to keep moving forward.
“The heartbeat of a club are the players and fans, it’s my job to connect them and there’s a real bond been built over the time I’ve been here. It’s important to have the backing of the fans and it can make a difference on the pitch – and if the fans keep backing the team, as they have home and away, then the club is in a good spot.
Reaction on the forum:
TrickyImps!: “Great news.
I’m not sure how long he had left on his previous contract, but this will give him and the Club some security and stability.
Suspect there’s a hefty release clause in there as well, just in case the vultures start to circle!”
sedgleyimp: “That’s terrific news. Shows the stability of the club for teams looking to send their best young players to us on loan and protects our investment in Skubs should any other teams come knocking in the early part of the season.
It’s almost as if the club had devised a four-year plan with this and the recent deals given out to some new players.
UTI.”
berksimps: “Fantastic news, Scoobs obviously loves being here and the challenge ahead. A real positive just before the start of the season.”
