“For anyone thinking that Liverpool fielded a weak team, just those nine players cost Liverpool £259 million.”

|

I usually look for a paragraph or two to open this article, but I feel tonight that some people perhaps need to take a step back and realise how just stupid their comments are, following tonight’s 7-2 defeat at home against Liverpool in the Third Round of the League Cup, so here is a post from Scotimp: “van Dijk cost £75m, Keita £53m, Jota £45m, Fabinho £39m, Shaqiri £13m, Tsimikas £12m, Origi £10m, Minamino £7m, Grujic £5m.

For anyone feeling disappointed, and for anyone thinking that Liverpool fielded a weak team, just those nine players cost Liverpool £259 million.”

More views from the Match Thread:

imps_joe: “Very very good 2nd half. We created significantly more chances than I imagine any of us expected, especially after the first half. Probably should have scored 1 or 2 more but can’t complain.

Lads should be proud.

Importantly, it seems like everyone has a full bill of health (no COVID) and we got some much-needed tv money.”

Gaz_Imp: “Kept going. Stuck to principles against the best pressing team in the world. Had good moments going forward. Our young side will have learnt a lot tonight. No shame in the result.”

PortMacImp: “There will be posts that will dwell on the negatives after this game. We were playing against the Premier League and World Club Champions with a squad of the highest level players so the loss is no surprise. From the Lincoln perspective, our team of young players will have had the opportunity to learn and experience playing against the best. Appleton will guide them through the next few days and we will be well up for the next game against Charlton. We will be just fine in League 1 this season and some teams in our division will find it hard to cope with us at times, just watch and see.”

dont want to spoil your fun but its kind of irrelevant what it cost but anyhow the team that started cost about 125 million and 75 million of that was one player the other 10 that started cost about 50 milllion so sorry but that was a weakened liverpool team
