Thank you to the two Bury supporters, “Triggs” and “RammyShaker”, from “Beardyman’s Big Bury Board”, for answering these questions!

How long have you supported Bury?

Triggs: This will be my 11th season of attending regularly.

RammyShaker: 25 years.

Where did you finish last season?

Rock Bottom of League 1.

What do you think of your Manager?

Triggs: A certified club legend. Passionate and determined but his inexperience can leave him prone to naivety.

RammyShaker: I like him a lot. He’s a club legend, the guy I wanted to get the job at the end of last season and, in my opinion, the right guy for the job at the moment. I just hope he is given enough time.

What are your hopes and expectations for this season?

Triggs: I’d snap your hand off for mid-table consolidation given what we endured last season.

RammyShaker: Would be happy with a midtable finish with a view to building some consistency and pushing on next season.

One(s) to watch?

Triggs: An honourable mention for Gold Omotayo who recently signed from Whitehawk but I’d say Danny Mayor is our most exciting attacking threat.

RammyShaker: Mayor, Gold and Aimson.

Who do you think will finish in the top 7?

Triggs: Lincoln City, Milton Keynes Dons, Swindon Town, Tranmere Rovers, Mansfield Town, Exeter City and Colchester United.

RammyShaker: Milton Keynes Dons, Lincoln City, Port Vale, Oldham Athletic, Swindon Town, Notts County and Mansfield Town.

Who do you think will finish in the bottom 2?

Triggs: Oldham Athletic & Macclesfield Town.

RammyShaker: Macclesfield Town and Morecambe – long season ahead for both of those.

What are your thoughts on Lincoln City?

Triggs: Predominantly envy! Everything about the club appears to be done the right way. Community orientated, superb manager(s) and fantastic attendances. Great to see a club at our level being run properly for once and succeeding.

RammyShaker: Lovely little club. Always enjoyed going to Sincil Bank (I’ve seen us get some great results there). Seem to be doing things the right way and I like your management duos ethos.

What do you think the score will be?

Triggs: 0-0.

RammyShaker: 2-1 to Lincoln.

What will your likely default formation and style of play be for this season?

Triggs: Seems to be a 5-4-1 with wing-backs, although we’ve played a few different shapes so far. Defenders seem to be encouraged to bring the ball out from the back and work the ball up the pitch which is always pleasing.

RammyShaker: 3-5-2. Fairly defensive so far, but I hope that we’ll become more attacking as the season moves on and we’ve learned how to not concede as many ridiculous goals as last season.

Random fact about your Club?

Triggs: First ever club to score 1,000 goals in each of the top 4 divisions in England.

RammyShaker: First club to score 1,000 goals in every division. That’s the first (and only) one that springs to mind!

If you could steal one Lincoln City player for your own team, who would it be and why?

Triggs: Would probably have to be big John Akinde – a proper handful at this level and has a decent scoring record. Actually, can I change my 0-0 prediction?!

RammyShaker: Matt Green seems to score a few goals, but truthfully I don’t know much about your squad.

What are your proudest and most embarrassing moments as a Bury Supporter?

Triggs:

Proudest: I’d say beating Chesterfield to get promoted in 2011 when they were unbeaten at home all season. Our current manager scoring an 87th-minute winner. Doesn’t come much better than that.

Most Embarrassing: Struggle to think past getting played off the park and battered 3-0 off (subsequently relegated) Woking at home in the FA Cup First Round replay last season.

RammyShaker:

Proudest: Proudest was probably beating Man City at Maine Road.

Most Embarrassing: Last season by far the most embarrassing.

Who would you say is your most underrated player?

Triggs: I’ll probably say Callum Styles – Product of our Youth System, he’s an 18-year-old Central Midfielder. We sold him to Barnsley a couple of weeks ago for far less than his value in my opinion. We’ve got him loaned back until January and look a far worse side without him in the team.

RammyShaker: Thompson.

Do you have a Supporters Trust and what role do they play at the Club?

Triggs: We do but sadly under the current regime, their influence has been muted.

RammyShaker: Forever Bury – you’d have to ask them. The answer seems (to me, from the outside) “less and less every year”

Which was your favourite match involving Bury?

Triggs: There’s not been many recently that’s for sure! I’ll probably say getting promoted at Tranmere on the last day in 2015 because I’m still not convinced we actually managed to pull it off. Either that or beating Norwich 2-1 in an FA Cup replay which was my first game back at Gigg Lane and rekindled this love affair.

RammyShaker: Gaining promotion away at Chesterfield in a cracker of a game that finished 2-3. I still watch the highlights on YouTube occasionally.

Which was your least favourite match involving Bury?

Triggs: I’ll say Bolton (A) in the League Cup First Round. Battered them for 89 mins. Conceded a penalty at the death then our current Captain scored a winner for them in Extra Time. Could’ve phoned in sick to work for a week after that.

RammyShaker: Take your pick from about 30 last season!
