And now the answers provided by Richard:

How long have you supported Gillingham?

46 years.

Where did you finish last season?

13th.

What do you think of your Manager?

Personally not much but in fairness, I don’t know him, but he has a decent track record.

Who Are The League One Managers? No.11: Steve Evans (Gillingham)

What are your hopes and expectations for the 2019/20 season?

Sadly, to survive.

One(s) to watch?

Best of a poor lot, Stuart O’Keefe.

Which teams you think will finish in the top six?

Ipswich Town, Peterborough United, Sunderland, Rotherham United, Coventry City and Oxford United.

Which teams do you think will finish in the bottom three?

Southend United, Bolton Wanderers and Accrington Stanley.

What are your thoughts on Lincoln City?

Going somewhere but badly damaged by manager loss.

What do you think the score will be?

2-2.

Random fact about your Club?

We were called New Brompton up until 1913.

If you could steal one Lincoln City player for your own team, who would it be and why?

Lee Frecklington

What are your proudest and most embarrassing moments as a Gillingham Supporter?

Proudest, reaching the Championship for the first time under Peter Taylor with Tony Pulis’ team.

Most embarrassing, being fined by the Courts after the Mark McCammon case.

Who would you say is your most underrated player?

Probably Mark Byrne.

Do you have a Supporters Trust and what role do they play at the Club?

Our Supporters club fell out with our Chairman a long time ago, I get the feeling that Scally doesn’t desire our input much, my opinion of course. I’m not aware of any other organisation being involved, as far as I know.

Which was your favourite match involving Gillingham?

Versus Crystal Palace in 1973.

Which was your least favourite match involving Gillingham?

Probably versus Swindon Town in the seventies when the referee got belted.

Do you have a Former Players Association at Gillingham?

I’m not aware of one but a few ex-players have paraded the ground in recent years.

What’s the best thing about Gillingham?

Very difficult, the place is not attractively placed in the Garden of England and it’s got worse, probably the Dockyard which is of course partly in Chatham.

Steve Evans? Yay or wish Greggs would close in Gillingham so he leaves?

If he brings success, he can have as many pies as he wants!

Who would you say is your clubs ultimate cult hero and why?

Perhaps Terry Cochrane but there are many including Steve Bruce and Tony Cascarino and Andy Hess. Cochrane because he made it look so easy and was understated in himself.

Maybe John Hodge for his ability to turn tiring left-backs inside out and play to the crowd a really talented winger.

Then there’s Iffy Onuora of course and Carl Asaba, great players with great personalities.

My personal favourites, Damien Richardson and Alan Wilks from the promotion team 1974, I remember the Lincoln at home match very well! 2-0.

I was told your fiercest rivalry was with Southend United, a big distance by road but quite close as the crow flies, is this true?

No, our fiercest rivalry has surprisingly been with Swindon Town which goes back to the match in the seventies, in the return the Swindon trainer got belted by a Gillingham player which led to a court case. It was the foundation for a severe hatred from our point of view, even now they are sometimes known as ‘ The Swine’.

Which ‘big’ /London clubs do people in the area traditionally support, particularly now with fast trains to Stratford?

West Ham United and Arsenal, I would say.

Looking back to groundshare by Brighton, seems very ‘left-field’ thinking. Did it benefit the Gills much?

Well, Scally was paid an amount of money which he seemed happy with but the Brighton fans were far from happy!

Whose temporary stand will stay the longest – yours or Blackpool’s? Are there actually any plans to develop this end of the stadium, or will a new ground ever materialise?

The new ground seems like a pipe dream which the Chairman trots out every now and then and I can’t see the open end of the ground ever being developed, unless and until we do move, the open end is really awful.
