Jordan Wright has completed a move to League Two side Grimsby Town for an undisclosed fee. The 25-year-old goalkeeper joined City from Nottingham Forest in January 2022, making 31 appearances and keeping 10 clean sheets.

Wright also shone in the penalty shootouts he was involved in – making a hat-trick of saves against Barrow in the Carabao Cup run which ultimately led to City reaching the last 16 of the competition for the first time since the 1967/68 season.

City’s Director of Football Jez George said: “Jordan has served the club really well over the last two and a half years. This role is difficult to sustain for a long period of time, especially as Jordan played a number of games in his first season after an injury to Josh Griffiths but was frustrated by limited opportunities in the last two seasons due to the form and consistency of Carl Rushworth and Lukas Jensen.

“Therefore, we felt that it was only fair and respectful to allow Jordan to pursue his desire for regular football and the opportunity to establish himself as a No.1 goalkeeper within the EFL.”

Everyone at Vital Lincoln City would like to place on record our thanks to Jordan for his efforts for the Imps and wish him all the best in the future.

Thank you to Graham Burrell and Lincoln City Football Club for the photograph!
