“Chapman looked so at ease for a 17-year-old.”

Views from cherryexile after last night’s 4-0 win away at Port Vale: “Thoroughly enjoyed tonight. 3 goals in front of us including a stunner from O’Connor curling into the corner. Rhead really enjoyed taunting the Vale, Shackell was awesome, Grant made a brilliant save, Anderson played really well, as did Pett. Chapman didn’t look out of place (you wouldn’t have guessed he was a 17 year old from his contribution), Wilson showed his pace, but for me, O’Connor was the standout – he played 3 exquisite passes, organised all around him and raised the roof with his goal.

All in all, it was a great evening out and only 40 minutes from home.”

sedgleyimp: “Great result tonight and one which was never in doubt from the early goal. Every player contributed to a real team performance but for me a few worthy mentions for Harry Anderson who I thought played very well in what is a new role for him as a wing back (right back at the end), Ellis Chapman looked so at ease for a 17-year-old. We have some potential player there, Finally for Jason Shackell who was immense at the back. His positional sense and calmness was a lesson in how to be a defender.

As a side note on Vale, they could be in for a very long season and if ever Ricky Miller is mentioned on this forum again as a potential transfer target for us his performance tonight can only demonstrate that that would be a big no-no.”

berksimps: “That is a tremendous performance; confidence everywhere.”
