Boston`s march back to League status is well on course by the looks of things. A healthy 2165 turned up to see the Pilgrims progress to the UniBond Premier Play-Off final with a 2-1 win over North Ferriby last night.
But enough of the facts this is football and a Lincolnshire side reborn, where is the romance and the rhetoric? Regale us with heroics please and stay underserving comments and six fingered salutes for here is a Lincolnshire side on the up.
A side who had sowed, in oh so many ways, the seeds of their own destruction, saught justice as the League bounced them down and down. Whilst others have escaped the same punishment Boston had to lick the wounds of injustice and climb back, toughened by the cat calls and the recriminations. But joint managers Robert Scott and Paul Hurst, both Rotherham United lads, have put some steel in this side`s belly.
Two thunderous drives in the 36th and 41st minutes were worthy winners of any game and brought York Street to its feet. James Cullingworth`s free-kick deep into the Ferriby box was only partially cleared and Jamie Yates made them pay with a rising half volley howitzer from 20 yards. The faithful had only just settled down when a further fireball lit the Boston sky. Yates again fashioned the fireworks crossing for top scorer Marc Newsham to volley home an unstoppable thunderbolt from the foot of Thor himself. Talking of Feet, Foot got a headed consolation with a dozen minutes to go but by then the celebrations, nay the Ferriby Fiesta, was in full swing.
It is off to Bradford Park Avenue this Saturday, mmmm another name back from the abyss.
