Bolton Wanderers 3-1 Lincoln City: Match Stats & Views From The Forum

|

Views from Rasenimp following the 3-1 defeat away at Bolton Wanderers in League One: “I don’t even know what to make of it. Literally predicted 3-1 and would have taken any sort of result, so it’s not unprecedented on the one hand.

But we play WELL and have a lot of the game, but still get beaten again. Three soft-as-**** goals conceded and at the other end, we still miss gilt-edged chances. To concede three today is ridiculous. It’s such a familiar and infuriating pattern, and by signing three forwards we seem to have barely changed! Can say on the balance of play we deserved something every single week but it is not going to cut it, and God forbid we actually start playing badly in between the boxes.

We are basically the antithesis of the Cowley lincoln side, instead of finding some way to win when playing poorly and being a nightmare to play against, we will contrive to lose each game by profligacy at one and negligence at the back. Two home games in a row now, too.”

More views from our Match Thread:

sedgleyimp: “Our season in a nutshell there. Could have gone either way up to us giving away those last two poor goals.

McGrandles my MOM closely followed by Norton-Cuffy but we did have I’m afraid a couple of passengers in that side tonight and that is always going to make any match very difficult”

APHLCFC: “Same old again tonight. We play well in parts but you just know there’ll be periods in the game were we are so vulnerable.

For us to attack well we have to have many passes and runs and touches all come together in over move which is very difficult so when it works you have to score, and we usually don’t.

For the opposition to attack well they have to outmuscle us or wait for a sloppy pass in a dangerous area.

In short, we’re too easy to play against and not quite good or consistent enough to play the way we try to.

When was the last time we won a scrappy 1-0?”

Scotimp: “Another frustrating night, poor performances by several players, and two very good ones. But two incidents sum that up for me:

a) on 87 minutes, at 3-1 down, Lincoln get a free kick in Bolton’s half; the ball is passed backwards and four seconds later is with Josh Griffiths;

b) on 90 minutes, at 3-1 down, Lincoln get a corner; the ball is played short and three seconds later Bolton have a goal kick.

Here is something insightful: you can’t score if the ball is with your own goalkeeper, and you can’t score with the ball by the corner flag.

Why didn’t they just get the ball into the box? Who knows, is it beyond the bounds of possibility that they could have scored two more goals had they done so?”
