hulloutpost: “I’m delighted to see we are playing again. Fingers crossed that the players have benefitted from the break after taking a two month physical and mental battering.

Expectation levels have firmly been re-set to what I had pre-season, so a decent performance and individual signs of development from our younger players are the bar for me. Anything else is a bonus.”

Chesterimp: “Hadn’t realised Blackpool’s current good run extends to 13 matches unbeaten. Not a good opponent to face after a couple of weeks off and disrupted preparation.

Our players may be ‘rested’ but not match fit and facing confident opposition. I’d expect Blackpool to look to exploit this by trying to pressure us from the off, so not conceding early will be even more important than usual as to do so might be the prelude for a thrashing.

And while much has been made about not conceding the first goal a recurring problem in this recent poor run has been conceding the last goal, that has seen wins become draws(Ipswich, Sunderland) and draws losses (Rochdale, Oxford).

Needs 90+ minutes concentration to get any sort of result, and a point would be a good one.”

The first training session for two weeks was on Thursday.

He said that for the next few games he may have to treat them almost as pre-season games, including perhaps using the full quota of substitutes. (That perhaps should be borne in mind if any what appear to be mystery substitutions are made during the game).”

Blackpool are thirteen unbeaten, but those runs always come to an end; in fact, the longer they continue, the more likely they are to end with every game that comes.

Blackpool have played three times since our last game; that could be significant.

Momentum is vital in football, but so is timing a run at the end of a season: have Blackpool peaked too early?

No one knows quite what to expect from Lincoln’s players, but they will be very well rested because they have not even been training. Ten days without training should not be a problem for professional footballers, and a positive in such a compacted season.

Some of the injured players are available – Sanders and potentially Walsh.

Blackpool won’t know what to expect from Lincoln either.

A win for Lincoln today could be vital because Ipswich and Charlton could both lose. We could be six points clear of seventh with a win with games running out.”
