Following the 1-1 draw away at Blackpool in League One, I asked the Vital Lincoln City members what three things they learnt from the match.

Here’s what Impalex said:

1) For a start, it clearly shows that we now have a squad with lots of depth, I mean, 5 strikers available (and there’s Walker to come) each with his own different style of play which must be somewhat terrifying, certainly baffling, for our opponents.

2) That this team just never knows when it is beaten and does not stop until the fat lady sings her final note. Against all the odds, with having Jackson sent off for a pointless challenge (he’ll learn) in the centre circle and therefore having to change our formation and personnel to cope, then going 1-0 down to a dubious goal in which the provider was at least a yard offside when the original ball was played forward only for the last ten minutes to show that there was only one team wanting the points, and that was Lincoln City.

3) At the death, we were awarded another corner which was beautifully launched to the back post (for once) where birthday boy Tom Hamer, hammered home his header (see the alliteration there?) to keep the Imps’ excellent unbeaten away run going. Further proof if needed that this side knows not when it is beaten and that our manager knows how to mix things up, change things around and still pull a rabbit out the hat! If we have learned nothing else this time around, it is that the Imps are more than capable of mixing it with the best in this league and could even go on to gain automatic promotion, as suggested by Football Web Pages’ ‘Predicted Final Table.’ I am reminded by that fantastic run at the end of the 2016/17 season under the Cowleys when that side also knew not when to throw in the towel as evidenced by such games as Gateshead (A) amongst others. Long may it continue!
