City recorded their third win on the bounce against Braintree and it was Jon Nolan and Hamza Bencherif who caught the eye this week.
The pair both scored 8.13 to share first place, perhaps unsurprising when you also see how close they were in the man of the match vote! Luke Imp said that Nolan ran the midfield and gave him 9 out of 10, while Brown Imp said that Bencherif “terrified” their defence. A good outing for both players and it’s great to see Nolan’s early season form continue.
Those two sneaked in ahead of Sean Newton (7.50) who has picked up where he left off last season. Newton put in a pearler of a cross for Bencherif’s goal, and also found himself on the scoresheet when his near post corner evaded everyone. The left-back is really racking up the assists even with this campaign in its infancy and looks a cut above this level.
Good scores came right across the team, with Ben Tomlinson (7.13) and Arnaud Mendy (7.00) also enjoying their Saturday afternoons. Tony Diagne was the lowest scorer at 5.88, although that doesn’t seem too bad for a player who was sent off! The general consensus through the thread was that he was certainly unlucky to be given his marching orders and was otherwise fairly untroubled.
A brief look at posters shows that the highest scorer was Luke Imp (7.45) and the lowest was Red Wimp (6.64). The average was 6.99, making it the second best performance of the season so far.
