Ten-man Lincoln City staged a brilliant fightback to finally end their home hoodoo over in-form Chester City ? and give boss Keith Alexander some much-needed breathing space.

Trailing to a Marcus Richardson goal and then having Dean Keates sent off, the Imps looked set for yet another defeat. But Alexander?s men dug deep into their reserves and drew level in the 68th minute through Richard Logan?s first goal for the club.

Just 90 seconds later and City were amazingly in the lead as Paul Mayo smashed home a penalty after he was fouled in the box by Tommy Curtis.

Chester battled back and Ben Davies saw a shot superbly saved by Alan Marriott, with Abdou El-Khalti?s follow-up effort hacked off the line by Gareth McAuley as the Imps clung on to their precious lead.

And City sealed the win deep into stoppage time as Derek Asamoah finally returned to the scoresheet as he tapped into an empty net to make the final scoreline 3-1 to Lincoln.

‘We played some good football and we needed the win,’ was Alexander?s immediate post-match reaction.
