Ahead of tomorrow’s match away at Southend United in League One, we asked our members what three things they think The Imps need to do to pick up all three points.

Here’s what sedgleyimp said:

1. Keep it Simple. Southend haven’t won a game at home this season. There are suggestions that players are still not being paid and there is a general disharmony at the club. Their supporters don’t seem to be a very happy bunch at the moment. The reality is that as games go in League 1 this is one which we should be winning. But to do that the best way in my mind will be to keep the game simple. Don’t overcomplicate attacks with an extra 1/2/3 or more passes. We have just bought a striker from them who knows the weaknesses of their defenders. Use that knowledge

2. Intensity and speed. If we get on our game as we had up to the last two games we have the ability to attack at pace and get behind defences. That has to come back on Saturday and will bring us the 3 points. If though we slow it down and allow the opponents to get into the game their currently fragile confidence will seep back into their game. Put them on the back foot.

3. Supporters, be they at the game or following remotely need to get behind the players. Players come and go from football teams. It’s part of the game. What I find unhelpful to players who come in to replace transferred, experienced players are comments either verbally or in print decrying them for not being at the standard of those who have left with immediate effect. As supporters, we need to get behind our players, not those who earn their living elsewhere. You might find it’ll give them a boost and as a consequence let them settle quicker and their potential comes to fruition that bit sooner.

Will The Imps win, lose or draw against Southend United?
