“Andrade was unplayable at times and back to his pre-December best.”

Views from StrangelyBrown following Saturday’s 1-1 draw at home against Northampton Town: “Poor first 30 minutes- little fluidity and couldn’t get going. Quietest part of the game from the crowd as well.

We scored and settled down with some nice play.

Anderson tackle was a red as soon as it happened- ref running across into his left pocket. It’s not about intent, it’s about reckless and out of control.

Thought we may hang on to half time but they sneaked a 6-yard toe poke.

2nd half- thought we were excellent. Only one team wanted to win and only wanted team was being roared on by the crowd. 2nd half never looked like 10 v 11.

The penalty seemed a stone wall decision but the ref bottled it.

Akinde was superb today and had their defenders continually at him on and off the ball- he is such a complete handful.

Andrade was unplayable at times and back to his pre-December best.

Shacks 2nd half particularly was a colossus.

Enjoyed the 2nd half almost as much as any this season (except for the absence of a 2nd goal- we showed such determination, desire and commitment.

Before the game, I hoped for 3 points.

After the game, we find ourselves 3 points clear with a game in hand and 10 points clear of 4th.

It will do for me.”

More views from the Match Thread:

imps_joe: “Great summary. Not too much to add.

Apart from the goal we defended very well. Northampton looked fairly ineffective going forward, but that’s probably due to how well we defended.

Thought Pett struggled to get into the game when he came on.

How the ref missed the Frecklington incident and handball, God knows. Hope Frecklington is okay. Could be a cracked rib.

Finally just to echo your words on Akinde and Andrade (and to throw Rowe in there). I thought they were all excellent.”

NottyImp: “It’s a bit like hard work at moment, isn’t it? Doesn’t help that we were down to 10 men again, something that has happened a little more often than I’m comfortable with this season.

Refs are funny. Last week at County, they had one that couldn’t wait to give them a spot-kick in the very first minute, this week we had one who probably never would have for us unless a murder occured in the box.

We are making quite a few errors. Cowley teams, for me, are marked out by *not* making many unforced errors at all and very few forced ones. But my impression is that we’ve started giving the ball away too easily and too often, pretty much all over the pitch.

Credit to the Cobblers, though, they pressed and harried extremely well.

Lovely goal by Bruno and a fantastic flick on by Akinde in the build-up.”

UnbelievableJeff: “A good point, to a well-organised team we were fortunate to win against in the FA Cup.

Ironically the only main decision the referee got right was the sending off.

I don’t see it as anything else but a point gained. Mansfield lost, we are one point clearer than before the game….with a game in hand.

I don’t think we played particularly well before we scored today, but on a plus point, the new pies were excellent. So every cloud, and all that.

The second half was an enjoyable, entertaining, if not infuriating (down to the officiating mainly). I thought Big John was unlucky not to score in the opening moments of the second half. The number of offsides were infuriating, but understandable when they were trying to push the back line.

All in all, we have taken 4 points off Northampton this season and beaten them in the cup. If you can’t win, then don’t lose.

A final point. It is interesting to see that County beat FGR. It would indicate that their result against us last week was not a flash in the pan.”
