Interview with Lincoln City supporter John Smith

How long have you been following the Mighty Imps and what was your first game?

Since watching the first home game of the 1959/60 season. We lost 0-2 against Portsmouth.

What is your most memorable moment as an Imp? Good and Bad.

Good – the first play off final at Cardiff.

Bad – relegation in 1987.

Since you have been following LCFC, what would your best eleven be?

Grotier, Branfoot, Leigh, Booth, Ellis, Cooper, Fleming, Ward, Freeman, Smith, Harding.

Who is your all time favourite player?

Percy Freeman. A real fans favourite at both Lincoln and Reading. The then Reading manager reckoned it put 1,000 on the gate if Freeman was playing.

What would you say is the best goal you have seen The Imps score?

Jamie Forrester on his home debut against Grimsby Town. The game where Grimsby stayed on the pitch at half-time.

You’ve found 200k in cash under the bed and want to help out the Imps do you?

1. Buy a seat on the board.
2. Donate it to the club as long as it’s spent on the playing budget.
3. Donate it to the club with no conditions.
4. Invest it into the youth setup.
5. Other.

1.

Stadium move, yes or no?

Yes.

What of your possessions would you be prepared to lose if it meant the Imps won promotion back into the league?

I might be prepared to sacrifice one of my motorbikes.

Which would you choose as a fan, lose 2 games out of 3 but beat Grimsby
5-0 or a 3 game winning streak not including Grimsby?

A 3 game winning streak not including Grimsby.

  • Why was Percy Freeman working in Supermarket during his time at Reading? Frankly don’t believe that Reading quote.
