“An all-round solid performance with an edge of entertaining skilful football.”

Views from PerthImp following Saturday’s 2-0 win at home against Oxford United in League One: “Well – how good was that. Oxford had so much possession, but apart from two or three saves from Palmer, they really didn’t threaten. We looked dangerous so many times, and had some lovely passages of play. A lovely surprise when you think we weren’t sure if we had a clinical finishing ability and our midfield were perhaps not the strongest and our defence might have been inexperienced and given unnecessary goals away. An all-round solid performance with an edge of entertaining skilful football. 👏👏 if this is the beginning, the journey promises to be enjoyable.”

Croozey: “An excellent opening game. Considering Oxford were the best team in the division not to go up last year, that was a terrific result and performance. I think we have a few players that look a tad green at the moment, but they will polish up with more game time. We looked like we had that extra gear compared to Oxford. When we went for it, we opened them up. Good first week all round for the Imps.”

Stevie_imp: “It’s been lovely to have your company this afternoon. I’ve really missed the football league. Today’s game against Oxford has given me great hope. I’m very happy with Michael’s squad so far and am optimistic about staying in this league. I hope you are all well. Stay safe. Enjoy this bit of an Indian summer and we go again Tuesday evening.”

Gratzimp: “Very unexpected that. Superb result. Think Oxford will still be up there challenging for automatic promotion, so to start this way is very encouraging. LONG way to go, but a positive start and, a bit of confidence for the team is the most important thing today.”
