Before the game against Morecambe we asked our members “What 3 Things do we need to do to beat Morecambe?”

After the game, we asked our members “What 3 Things did we learn from the 0-0 draw against Morecambe?”

1. That Scott Wharton is becoming the first name on the team sheet each week. Assuming Bostwick will now move back into midfield, Wilson and Waterfall have a scrap on their hands for the other central defensive berth. Don’t get your hopes up of signing him, though. Blackburn rate him very highly and gave him a new three-year deal in September.

2. That the lack of goals from our strikers could be the difference between promotion and the play-offs. Kee and Jackson have 33 between them at Accrington, Hylton and Collins 33 at Luton, and Cowan-Hall and Akinfenwa 26 at Wycombe. Green and Rhead have 18. City apparently put 41 crosses into the Morecambe box yesterday and converted none of them.

3. That a draw at Morecambe may not be a bad thing. They have a decent home record and have beaten Coventry, Exeter, Wycombe and Newport at The Globe. Mansfield and Swindon continue to falter after managerial changes, and Notts County looked out of ideas as they lost at Chesterfield. Carlisle, Newport and Crawley dropped right out of contention after failing to win. Realistically there are 9 clubs left in the promotion race, and we are right in the mix.
